Monday, June 5th, 2023: The latest news from the BNN reporters following the Oakland Athletics is that an agreement has been reached with Antonio Basan to continue as their closer for another 2 years.
In 22 relief appearances this season Basan has chalked up 5 saves with 26 strikeouts in 28 innings, 1-2 won-lost mark and a 4.50 earned run average. |

Monday, June 5th, 2023: At the age of 26, Cristián López might have some potential he hasn't realized yet -- if his success at the plate last week is any indication. The San Diego center fielder put up some exceptional numbers the past seven days with a .500 batting average. For his efforts López collected the National League Player of the Week Award.
He racked up 11 hits in 22 at-bats, 1 home run and 11 RBIs last week in 6 games.
Hitting .304 to date, López has 9 home runs and 43 RBIs. He has played in 48 games. |
 | Baltimore's Breault Snaps Up Player of the Week
Monday, June 5th, 2023: Few players his age are still in the league, but Dave Breault of the Baltimore Orioles clearly loves the game and clearly he can still get the job done. Last week the 35-year-old first baseman hit the ball with the consistency of someone ten years younger, which made Breault a popular and well-deserved selection as American League Player of the Week.
He paced the Orioles attack by putting up a .400 batting average, 12 hits in 30 at-bats, 8 RBIs and 4 home runs. Breault also scored 7 runs.
Breault has collected 68 hits for the Orioles this year, 13 of them home runs. He has also netted 36 RBIs and scored 28 runs while batting .333. |
